Train from Home and Walk or Run the Fit 58 Hive Society Quarantine 5K

Who: All Center School District employees AND your family

WHAT: Train for and walk or run a 5K on the same weekend.

WHEN: Start training today.  Complete your virtual 5K any time between Friday, April 24th and Sunday, April 26th.  (I’ll send rules including what app to use to track your walk/run.)

WHERE: Outside!  Use this as motivation to get outdoors and to get moving.  Take photos of your walks/runs and share them to our PRIVATE GROUP FB page (you must ask permission to join): or to Instagram or Twitter using the hashtags: #fit58 #hivesociety #quarantine5K

WHY: A little extra motivation to get outdoors and stay moving while having some fun.  If you’re already in shape for a 5K, challenge yourself to go faster or stronger OR simply grab a family member(s) and use it as a reason to get outside TOGETHER!  AND, all staff get a FREE finisher t-shirt and chances to win other prizes – we’ll have random drawings along the way. (Who wants to win an Apple Watch or AirPods????)  All registered participants - including your family members, will receive a finisher's medal AND have a chance to win other prizes, like t-shirts.

HOW:  Here are some good training plans: Remember, any time it says “run,” you may walk.  Try to walk a little faster every time!  You can also download the app, Nike Run Club and use their free 5K training plans.  While the app is “Run Club” and the plans all say “RUN,” know that you can DEFINITELY WALK with the app, too.  NRC also has tons of guided distance and time-based runs (walks) and guided “meditation” runs from Headspace.   Add me as a friend in this app if you’d like - send me an email to learn how.  We can cheer each other on!

Monitor your progress in an app and take and share pictures of your progress.  On 5K Day, you’ll share selfies of you (and your family if they’re participating) finishing and a screenshot of the app with your distance and time.
